Fly to New Heights at the Museum of Discovery and Science

Fly to new heights at “The Hangar,” the Museum of Discovery and Science’s (MODS) new, innovative, high-tech aviation-themed makerspace.
• The popular “To Fly” Aviation Exhibit Hall, sponsored by the Emil Buehler Perpetual Trust, has been expanded and now features The Leighton Family Hangar, an aviation-themed, high-tech area that encourages collaboration and innovation.
• The only one of its kind in Broward County, The Hangar is a permanent space that encourages visitors of all ages to engage in an immersive, hands-on learning experience.
• The exhibit offers a diverse fusion of spaces, including a science lab, engineering workshop, innovation workshop, and art room that is designed to accommodate a wide range of collaborative activities, from robotics and electronics, to sewing and 3D printing.
• Daily creation and innovation in The Hangar are fueled and sponsored by Citrix, the official technology partner of MODS.
Details: The exhibit will be open to the public Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is included with the price of general Museum admission.

Jump on the Dino Train to Expedition: Dinosaur

The prehistoric adventure starts at a Brightline station in West Palm Beach or Miamicentral,where guests will be met by a Dino Keeper for a guided tour with fun dino-facts and potential photo opportunities with dinosaurs.
• Guests will board the Brightline and make their way to the Museum of Discovery and Science, where they will experience the Expedition: Dinosaur exhibit.
• Explorers will learn how dinosaurs survived in prehistoric times, discover how fossils are excavated and meet animatronic dinosaurs brought to life by leading-edge technology.
• After the Museum, explorers will head back to the Brightline Fort Lauderdale station and will hop on the Brightline to return to their starting stations.

Channel your inner paleontologist and go on a 30-minute adventure through the Museum’s newest traveling exhibit, Expedition: Dinosaur. Blast to the past and piece together a full dinosaur skeleton with state-of-the-art augmented reality technology from Magic Leap. (must be 14 and older). Construct model fossils through the Fun with Fossils program and learn about present day relatives of the dinosaurs at the Scales and Slime reptile show. Expedition: Dinosaur presented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, includes engaging and educational interactive experiences that explain dinosaur movement, digestion, and evolution, and showcase the life and methods of dinosaur fossil hunters from the 1800s to today.

Expedition: Dinosaur

For the Family, History/Science, Computers/Technology, Nature
This new, traveling exhibit includes interactive experiences that explain dinosaur movement, digestion, and evolution, and showcase the life and methods of dinosaur fossil hunters from the 1800s to today. Highlights include a digital sandbox, paleontologist camp, and an interactive robot that allow visitors to manipulate dinosaur eggs. On display will be life-like animatronic dinosaurs including Albertosaurus, Young Amargasaurus, Carnotaurus, Dilophosaurus, Iguanodon, Pachycephalosaurus, Velociraptor, Stegasaurus and Triceratops. Through May 25.

Go on an Egg-Spedition at the Museum of Discovery and Science

Go on an Egg-spedition Dinosaur Egg Hunt at MODS!
• Kids (ages 2-10) can fill their baskets with dinosaur eggs that are hidden throughout different exhibits in the Museum.
• There will be separate egg hunts for kids ages 2-3, 4-5, 6-8 and 9-10.
• Guests also will have the opportunity to meet and take photos with the MODS Dino Keeper and baby dinosaurs!
• Prizes will be awarded to kids who find specialty colored eggs throughout the egg hunt.
• After the egg hunt, explore MODS new exhibit, Expedition: Dinosaur, and learn how dinosaurs survived in prehistoric times, discover how fossils are excavated and meet animatronic dinosaurs brought to life by leading-edge technology!
• Please arrive 30 minutes before each egg hunt in order to make your way to the starting point and don’t forget the event is BYOB: bring your own basket!
9:30 a.m. – Egg Hunt for kids ages 2-3 and 4-5.
10:30 a.m. – Egg Hunt for kids ages 6-8 and 9-10.
Details: Museum members: $5 per child.
Non-members: $21 per child (includes Museum admission).
Adults must still pay for Museum admission.
