Artist Reception: “Anguish in the Aftermath: Examining a Mass Shooting” by Ian Witlen

Art Show, Gallery, Mixed Media, Museum, Photography
Join the Coral Springs Museum of Art for a complimentary artist reception with internationally published photographer and alumnus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Ian Witlen. Witlen, an artist in residence at the Museum, is debuting his powerful audio visual exhibition entitled, “Anguish in the Aftermath: Examining a Mass Shooting.” The exhibit will be on display from September 14, 2019 through November 9, 2019. For the past 12-months, Witlen has interviewed more than 75 students and teachers, some of who were located in the freshman building of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018 when terror struck. While answering two questions, “What was your experience that day” and “What would you like to see come of it,” Witlen photographed the participants. “Anguish in the Aftermath” is the collection of black and white portraits and audio recordings from each of the participants. For more information and to RSVP for the reception visit or call (954) 340-5000.
