Bram Stoker's Dracula

Play, Drama, Mystery/Thriller
A World Premiere play by award-winning playwright and Zoetic Stage co-founder Michael McKeever. It’s 1897, Jonathan Harker and his fiancée Mina Murray are welcoming Count Dracula from Transylvania. From that point on, nothing is what you’d expect it to be. Using Bram Stoker’s novel as starting point, McKeever has reinvented the gothic horror tale with a feminist point of view and created female characters that not only stand up to the title character, but eventually overcome him. Breaking the mold of what a Victorian “lady” should be, the women in this Dracula are strong, determined and unwilling to play victim to any predator. A very modern take on a classic story.

Max Richter with the American Contemporary Music Ensemble

Classical, Special Event
Performing Infra & music from The Blue Notebooks. The work of the award-winning British composer Max Richter includes concert music, film scoring and acclaimed solo albums. Max’s work explores the meeting points of many contemporary artistic languages and embraces a wide range of influences while working with Tilda Swinton, The Royal Ballet, Hilary Hahn and more. Infra resonates with Richter's characteristic musical voice, minimalism combined with sweeping melodies and harmonic complexity, mesmerizing the listener. The Blue Notebooks are Richter's attempt for music to comment on society and exist as an anti-violence record. The canon-defining masterpiece was radical at the time as one of the first to combine classical and electronic elements with a post rock sensibility. "On the Nature of Daylight" has since become the album's most prominent and best-known track, most notably for its pivotal inclusion in martin Scorsese's Shutter Island and more recently Denis Villeneuve's award-winning film Arrival. The American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) is dedicated to the outstanding performance of masterworks from the 20th and 21st centuries, primarily the work of American composers. ACME’s dedication to new music extends across genres and has earned them a reputation among both classical and rock crowds. The New York Times calls them “vital…brilliant…electrifying!”
